#TakeoverTuesday: Jo Dempsey from Naturelly

Hey, I’m Joanne (MamaJo) and I was born in Liverpool raised in Daventry in the Midlands and then moved to London when I was 18 where I became a fashion buyer for 14 years buying ladieswear and childrenswear, both branded and own label for Selfrdiges, Liberty and Harvey Nichols to name a few. My husband Dean is from Manchester and used to run his own marketing agency in Soho working on brands like Red Bull, Heinz and AG Barr’s KA. We both now live in Altrincham which we absolutely adore…it’s the foody capital of the North isn’t it?

Trying to find healthy snacks was always challenging for us; especially when on days out or picking the girls up from school and nursery. Tears and tantrums would follow. We needed an on the go snack that would fill them up just a little, until dinner time. So, we put our crazy brains together to find out the stuff our kids loved and this led us to the idea of creating Naturelly, it’s a natural jelly made from real fruit juice.

Well, first of all we discovered this special gelatine free, wibbly jelly made from Lily Plants called Gellan Gum. This clever jelly helps fill little tummies up until meal time with it being a natural dietary fibre and by mixing it with fruit juice it helps stop those cravings for sugary snacks. We also made sure we didn’t add any sugar OR sweeteners OR artificicial colours OR artificial flavours OR artificial preservatives! Being parents ourselves, we only wanted natural ingredients for our little ones. Our juice comes straight from squeezed fruit making Naturelly sweet by nature with nothing naughty. Plus, the good news is, it’s only 36 kcal and 7g (which is 1.5 teaspoons) of naturally occurring fruit sugars per pouch.

Yes, Naturelly has been approved by both the vegetarian and coeliac societies and is free from all the top 14 allergens. It’s also vegan friendly and suitable for those practicing religious diets of all ages. Naturelly is also approved as a stage 1 and stage 2 product for those with swallowing difficulties such as dysphagia.

It’s a real problem that in some parts of the country 1 in 4 children are starting reception year at primary school and its extremely important that food manufacturers like us provide solutions to this problem. NHS guidelines state that children should only have between 15 and 20g of sugar per day!

In the near future we are looking at launching new flavours and possibly new formats so watch this space as they say!

Big Love,

Mama-Jo x
